Dorkbot: changes and considerations

November 18, 2009

Last night(11/17/09) we had a great meeting of a few regular attendees and one new person. Interesting topics discussed as always I took some time during this meeting to discuss the next steps for the future of Dorkbot Baltimore.

After organizing series for over a year I think I am beginning to understand how a group like this will work in Baltimore and how people in the community can benefit from what the meeting has to offer and what each of us has to offer each other.

After the December 15th social gathering( more on this very soon), Dorkbot Baltimore will be undertaking a “reset” and start again in 2010 as a series that meets every two months. I see this as a way that we can plan more interesting sessions and make this into something that has a more meaningful impact to the Baltimore region. There is a lot that goes into planning these types of events and I think that with enough lead time we could create something that is very engaging and has a stronger presence. Some ideas would be bringing artists, engineers and scientists from this region and other as special guests. Another would be to have meetings around a specific topic.

I am still developing the plan for the meetings and I would also be open to suggestions, comments and most of all , help. I can’t do all of this along and I would be happy to collaborate with anyone interested in engaging with our community and build these integrated connections of technology, science, art, etc.

I feel this is an important resource. We are building it, so and steady. E-mail me.
